Samsung Galaxy S4 vs Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy Note 2:Need to Upgrade?

Samsung Galaxy S4
Recent days, Samsung Galaxy S4 is definitely the hot topic in smartphones since it was debut on Mar.14. Undoubtedly, the most popular Samsung smartphones ware Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 before, and when Galaxy S4 joined the game, which one will become the flagship of Samsung? And facing with the powerful and science fiction device S4, is there a need to upgrade for S3 and Note 2 guys? Before that, we should take some considering about the phones, the basic method, compare them, Samsung Galaxy S4 vs Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy Note 2.

CPU and GPU
Galaxy S4 Galaxy S3 Galaxy Note 2
octo-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset with four 1.6 GHz Cortex A15 cores and four Cortex A7 cores at 1.2 GHz;PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU a quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4 Quad;Cortex A9 architecture, Mali 400 GPU 1.6 GHz Exynos 4 Quad chipset;a Mali 400 GPU

Obviously, S4 owns the most powerful CPU and GPU which makes it the winner to manage the hardware resources and improve the battery life.Besides,Note 2 is better than S3 with a little higher frequency than S3.If you just want the powerful CPU, S4 is the ideal.

Size and Display
Galaxy S4 Galaxy S3 Galaxy Note 2
an 5 inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super AMOLED Display(441ppi);136.5 × 69.8 × 7.9 mm;130 grams an 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display 1280 x 720 pixels resolution(306ppi);136.6 × 70.6 × 8.6 mm;133 grams an 5.5 inch 1280 x 720 HD Super AMOLED Display(265ppi);151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm;183 grams

From this table, you can easily find that S4 owns the best display with the highest 1920 x 1080 resolution and 441 ppi, just similar as HTC One.And 441 ppi is almost 50% more ppi than Samsung Galaxy S3, not to speak of Note 2, which can provide superior image clarity, not only for multimedia content, but for web browsing or reading a document with small fonts.

Besides,it is the thinnest and the lightest one with only 7.9mm thickness and 130 grams weight, which makes it more convenient to carry it whether on the go or not.Samsung S3 is also good in this term.Note 2 does a bad job for potable convenience.

However, Note 2 owns the big screen which will let you get more enjoyment in watching tv or reading document although it owns the lowest ppi.

In a summery,S4 is still the winner.

RAM,Storage and Connectivity
Galaxy S4 Galaxy S3 Galaxy Note 2
2GB RAM;16/32/64 GB Internal Storage;3G, WiFi, 4G LTE, Blueteeth ,NFC,and infrared port 1GB RAM;16/32/64 GB Internal Storage;3G, WiFi, 4G LTE ,Blueteeth and NFC 2GB RAM;16/32/64 GB Internal Storage;3G, WiFi, 4G LTE ,Blueteeth and NFC

Galaxy S4 choose the same configuration for RAM and storage as Note 2.But with the more powerful processor, S4 will perform better than Note 2, and also better than S3.In addition, Samsung Galaxy S4 add the infrared port for TV-watching.

OS and Software
Galaxy S4 Galaxy S3 Galaxy Note 2
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box;Smart Pause,Smart Scroll,Floating Touch, S features like S Translator, S Voice Drive, etc Pre-loaded Android 4.0 ICS and can be upgrade to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean;S Pen stylus,AirView

Galaxy S4 is inarguable owns the new amzing features like Smart Scroll/Pause, which is integrated in TouchWiz.But good news for Galaxy S3 and Note 2 is that Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will also receive the Android 4.2.2 update, and the new software improvements will be introduced on the S3 and Note 2.So, if you just want to be attracted by the new feautes, you just need to wait for the update without the need of upgrading.

Camera and Battery life
Galaxy S4 Galaxy S3 Galaxy Note 2
a 13 MP rear camera and 2MP front camera;Removeable 2,600 mAh battery a 8 MP rear camera and 1.9MP front camera;2,100 mAh battery a 8 MP rear camera and 1.9MP front camera;3,100 mAh battery

Samsung Galaxy S4 upgrade its camera to 13MP from its predecessors which records full HD videos at 30 fps, just similar as S3 and Note 2.But the difference is S4 add new fun features in camera app like Sound and Shot,Drama Shot and others. The really great point is that you can simultaneously record videos with both the front-facing and rear-facing cameras on S4.The camera of S4 can be a good point to attract people to upgrade.

The battery of Samsung Galaxy S4 is 500 mAh more powerful than the one of the Galaxy S3, but considering the bigger full HD display, the battery life shouldnot make much difference between S4 and S3.Note 2 owns the biggest battery but at the same time it owns the largest screen,so the battery life should be very similar as S3.

Conclusion
From the comparison above, we can find that Galaxy S4 is a well-deserved top-end smartphone with the full HD display and hardware platform. Considering of the new software improvements will be most likely arrive on the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2, the main reason for you upgrading to S4 is maybe the higher hardware and full HD display.

If you just don’t care much about hardware and get satisfied with the display of S3 and Note 2, there is no need to upgrade. Whatever, it all depends on you.

What will you do unlock an Android phone or tablet? Following are some solutions to get back to your device.

Unlock the Android when forgot password

Solution 1:Google Account Confirming

Android devices is heavily integrated with Google, and when you first turned on your device, you were likely asked to sign up for, or link, a Google account to your device, which does good to unlock you device if you forget the password or pattern.

Or something like that”, and then you should be asked for input the Google Account name and password , after you have gotten in, you can set a new password.

Some Android devices offer a ‘Safe Mode’ to boot into a simplified home screen without apps, but have access to settings, where you may be able to reset the screen lock.

For entering the safe mode, you need to press the Power button to get the on/off window or press and hold the physical button to get a safe mode option. You may be reboot to enter into safe mode on some device.

What is NFC and How to Use NFC on Android Devices?

NFC, short for Near Field Communication, is better known to us for wireless payments. And since it is used on Android system in the mobile industry for file transferring, it is fast growing. Most high-end Android devices include the NFC technology, such as Google Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S3, Nexus 4, HTC One X, and more. So, what is NFC and how does it work? Following is the answer.

Sharing datas via NFC on Android

What is NFC?
NFC is based on radio-frequency identification, or RFID, which allows a gadget to send radio waves to another gadget or to another RFID-enabled tag and trigger a certain action. Just like the name implies, NFC is a short-ranged wireless communications standard that allows two devices to exchange data when in the proximity of each other.

It is similar to Bluetooth technology, the difference is that if you will, allowing two devices to interact with each other. But NFC works only in very close proximity, the ideal distance is up to 4cm (1.57 inches), while Bluetooth can pair devices up to 50 meters apart. This makes NFC become more efficient in power and more security in payments.

General use of NFC
1.Data Sharing

The most popular use of NFC is of course data sharing, with two activated NFC-based Android devices, then you can start the sharing the content including photos/images, contact info, webpages, videos, apps, etc.

1. Open the content to be shared and put both devices’ backs against each other.
2. When heard of the sound and haptic confirmation that both devices have detected each other, touch the sender’s screen which shrinks into a thumbnail and display “Touch to beam” at the top. And the beaming is beginning with a sound alert.
3. An audio confirmation will appear when beaming finishes, and meanwhile you’ll also get either a notification that the beaming has completed, or the appropriate handler app will launch and open the beamed content.

Note:
  • Sharing apps via NFC just shares the app’s Play Store page.
  • Sharing web pages via NFC only sends the Web page URL.
  • Sharing YouTube Videos will direct the receiving phone’s YouTube app to the video.
  • Not all NFC-capable devices can share photos to each other, nor at sharing videos.
2.Using NFC Tags

Except for content sharing, we can use a programmed NFC tag to configure phone’s or tablet’s settings with just a tap. An NFC tag is an unpowered NFC chip, small enough to be embedded in items such as posters, movie passes, business cards, and more. It can store small chunks of data covering a URL, contact info, or even commands and settings, which can be read by an NFC-capable device. You can see the convenient use via the below video by Sony.
To read the data from or write data to such NFC tags, you’ll need an NFC tag-reading or tag-writing app, such as the NFC Task Launcher app. As for how to use the NFC tag, you can read this CNET article.

You can use the NFC tag for :
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings (including Airplane mode, auto-sync, GPS on/off, mobile data on/off)
  • Sound and volume settings (sound profile, ringtone, ring/notification volume, notification tone, media volume, system volume, alarm volume, and vibrate when ringing)
  • Display options (brightness, notification light, auto rotation, display timeout)
  • Social media (tweeting, checking in via check-in services such as Foursquare, Facebook, Google Latitude, Google Places)
  • Messages (autosync, sending email, composing SMS, send Glympse)
  • Apps and shortcuts (open app, close app, open activity, pause, open URL/URI, speak text, navigation, dock, car dock)
  • Multimedia (start/stop media playback, move to next media, play previous media)
  • Alarms (set alarm, set timer)
  • Events (create event, create calendar timestamp)
  • Security (activate lockscreen)
  • Make phone call
  • Samsung-specific modes (blocking mode, driving mode, power saving mode)
  • Create Tasker tasks
3.Mobile Payment

In order to use NFC payment, you need a NFC connection, a secure application to handle the users’ credit cards, debit cards, tickets, coupons and other elements that would allow customers to complete a purchase in a store, and NFC readers installed in store.

Future of NFC
NFC is more efficient and the NFC tag has added more attraction on it. At present, the Android 4.0 also includes the NFC technology. It is not hard to image the popularity of NFC in the future. So, do you want a NFC-based smartphone?

How to Turn off in-app Purchases on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to Keep Your Money?

Many iOS apps including the free apps allow you to buy additional features. And I bet many parents or other gaming people have received unexpected charges from the iTunes store because of accidental in-app purchases. And I have noticed many stories about the issues. So, what can we do to disable in-app purchase? Is there an effective way to turn off in-app purchases on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch? Of course, Apple doesn't leave you in the lurch, and do some setting to avoid the bills. Let’s go to the setting.

1. From your home screen, find and tap on the “Settings” app

Setting

2. Tap on “General”,scroll down the page and tap on “Restrictions
General> Restrictions

3. Tap the “Enable Restrictions” button, you'll be asked to set a Passcode, which is a password that locks certain functions of the iOS device. Enter the passcode twice to set it.
Set Passcode

4. Once the passcode is set, scroll down to the Allowed Content section. Then you can directly set the "In-App Purchases" to ‘OFF', or just choose 'Require Password' and then set it to 'Immediately' so that you'll need your Apple ID password for every single purchase, either on the store or inside an app.
Turn off In-app purchases on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Now you won't be able to download the paid features with this restriction unless you turn in-app purchases back on again.

An UltraPixel? What is Exactly it Introduced by HTC One?

photo by HTC One's UltraPixel camera
If you have concerned about the news on latest smartphones, HTC One must impress you, which will be launched in March. The HTC One is said officially to own an iPhone-similar appearance, the awesome technical specs that can compete with Nexus 4, and the highlight is the awesome UltraPixel camera .As we know, the popular camera is 13MP,but the UltraPixa camera is only 4 MP. So what is really an UltraPixal? Let’s explore it.

Misconceptions: Higher Megapixels, Higher quality
When customers seem to believe higher Megapixels produce higher quality, but in fact, Megapixels don't affect photo quality as much as the average consumer believes. And other factors including lighting, sensor quality, and image processing software play a critical role in determining photo quality in today’s world.

At this time, UltraPixel is as a way for HTC to change the common sense of people and prove that a 4 megapixel lens can beat cameras with MP ratings that are twice as high.

Capture more light and data
When a camera takes a photograph, its sensor groups millions of pixels together to form an image. And the more light the camera can capture, the better photos can be taken.

Before manufacturers try to make the camera get more light with higher megapixels. But the UltraPixel sensor of HTC One tries to raise the size of individual pixels rather than raise the pixel count via larger pixel sizes, that means, a pixel take up more space that can capture more light and information, as much as three times more, according to HTC -than the typical smartphone.

Besides, the sensor size is equivalent to the sensor size found on other 8MP or 13MP smartphone cameras. HTC also emphasized that the UltraPixel camera do better in low-light conditions and shutter speeds than other smartphones.

But what is this “UltraPixel” anyway?
We know, both Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One use a 1/3-inch (0.85-cm) sensor. Nokia has given 8.7 MP on the sensor, while HTC has deployed only 4.3 MP. So,the size of an individual pixel on Lumia 920′s camera sensor is 1.4 µm, while the size of the same pixel on One’s sensor is 2.0 µm. That is what HTC so passionately refers to as an “UltraPixel”.

UltraPixel is Trends on Smarphone?
When HTC One has firstly introduced the new UltraPixel concept, people may be confused about it, but when it is used by customer and proved to be better than the traditional, so will it be the trends on smartphones? I think it should well be the case. But don’t worry, just wait, time is the best witness.
