The boys of OK Go have returned with yet another out there video, this time it's for their track "Needing/Getting" and it's as crazy as you'd expect. Recorded across a couple of miles in the desert outside of LA, the band set up 1000 instruments and customised a A Chevy Sonic with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments as they speed past them. Damien even took stunt driving lessons to nail down the skills needed for the driving! 4 months of prep and 4 days of shooting and the results can be seen at the top.
Over 1,000 instruments were used in the making of the Chevy Sonic Super Bowl XLVI commercial. There were 1,157 homemade instruments, 55 pianos all tuned to the same octave and 288 guitars. The Chevy Sonic was retrofitted with pneumatic arms and tools to play the instruments as they made it through the desert obstacle course. The speed of the car made the music as it activated different instruments and played different notes.
