All Rumors on Amazon Kindle Fire 2 Tablet

Amazon shook up the tablet scene with the release of the Kindle Fire tablet in 2011. With one of the most popular tablets on the market, rumors are already swirling about Amazon's next move. The release of Google's Nexus 7 tablet at the same price point of the first-generation Kindle Fire has increased the competitive climate; not to mention the seemingly never-ending reign of the Apple iPad as the king of tablets. Will Amazon make another relevant and successful tablet? Will there be three different versions of the Kindle Fire? What about 4G? In anticipation of the expected announcement, here's a collection of all of the Kindle Fire 2 rumors to date.

August 23, 2012
Amazon has sent out invites for a press conference in Santa Monica on the morning of September 6. No further information has been released on what Amazon will announce but our bet is that we'll see a new Kindle Fire (or maybe even multiple Fires) and an e-ink Kindle with a built-in lighting option.

July 23, 2012
Demos Parneros, president of U.S. retail for Staples, spoke to Reuters and said that Amazon is currently working on "up to five or six" tablets that will come in all different sizes. One of the versions will include a 10-inch display, according to Parneros. He did not say when the devices might launch.

July 17, 2012
Analysts are beginning to wonder how Amazon will continue to fare in the hyper-competitive market. Cowen analyst Kevin Kopelman believes the Kindle Fire could be hurt by the Nexus 7. He lowered his full-year estimate on Kindle Fire sales to 12 million units from a prior forecast of 14 million. He had Amazon selling 4 million Kindle Fire units in 2011, when it launched late in the year.

July 5, 2012
An analyst with sources in the supply chain connection states that Amazon will release at least three new Kindle Fire tablets with 4G and a higher-resolution 1,920x1,200-pixel display. The rumored sizes of the new tablets are 7-inch and an 8.9-inch, quelling earlier rumors of a 10-inch Kindle Fire tablet.

June 29, 2012
Two sources reported that Amazon is working on two new Kindle Fire tablets. The 7-inch and 10-inch tablets are said to have superior build quality over the current model with Amazon replacing the plastic body with a metal casing. Both tablets are also reported to be thinner than the first-generation iPad, with no display buttons on the front but with the possibility of an HDMI port and a front-facing camera for the 10-inch model.

June 25, 2012
A credible source told CNET that Amazon will release its second-generation Kindle Fire this summer and is targeting a July 31 launch date. The new Kindle Fire would have a camera and physical volume-control buttons. DigiTimes reported rumors about a new $199 7-inch tablet with a higher 1,280x800-pixel display at the beginning of the third quarter.

May 14, 2012
A larger version of the Kindle Fire will arrive in the fall, closer to the holiday season, says a Reuters source. It's a reasonable assumption, given that the first-generation Kindle Fire was released in November 2011.

February 20, 2012
According to an Asia-based report, Amazon will consign production of a 10-inch Kindle Fire tablet to Foxconn. A 10-inch Fire could put it in the same market segment as Apple's 9.7-inch iPad 2.

February 10, 2012
Pacific Crest analyst Chad Bartley says the larger device could launch as soon as the middle of 2012. Bartley wrote that his prediction is based on his own recent checks with Amazon component suppliers.

December 30, 2011
Richard Windsor, global technology specialist for Nomura Securities, sees some of the current Android tablet makers looking to Amazon to help float some of their future offerings, or perhaps going as far as taking over production of the follow-up to the Kindle Fire. Windsor suspects Amazon's first $199 tablet could be a way to "seed the market." He sees makers of competing Android tablets -- which consumers seem to view as overpriced and lacking access to compelling content -- in a position to start courting Amazon for possible partnerships.

November, 21, 2011
The first rumor about the new Kindle Fire tablet stated that Amazon plans to start production of an 8.9-inch Kindle Fire in roughly May 2012 for an eventual launch at the end of the second quarter.

Ultimate Information Leaked on iPad Mini, New iPod Touch, New iPod Nano

In addition to the official release of iPhone 5 in September, all clues indicate that Apple will also release iPad Mini and the new iPod. Look at the latest information on the new devices prepared for you.

iPad Mini

The Japanese website Macotakara claims that the 7.85-inch new iPad will be named as iPad mini. It adopts A5X dual-core processor, 8GB memory space and 1024×768 screen resolution. The newest leaked protective shell hints that it is equipped with both front-facing camera and rear camera. The interface is almost the same with iPad 2.

And according to the additional news from the technical blog AllThingsD, iPad mini will not be released in September with iPhone 5 but in October. The price of iPad mini will be about $249.

New iPod Touch

Media takes the lead in exposing the protective shell of new generation iPod Touch. The protective shell implies that it has a large camera hole. It is likely that Apple has prepared the flash light for the new iPod Touch.

The Japanese website has stated previously that the fifth generation iPod Touch will be upgraded from 3.5 inches to 4 inches, and will be equipped with A5 dual-core processor.

New iPod Nano

Japanese website Macotakara says the new iPod Nano will use elongated design, equipped with Home button and camera. At the same time the built-in Wi-Fi (with iTunes in the Cloud function) which is used for downloading the purchased music, movie and TV show.

In addition, some German users reflect that when they are trying to order the iPod Nano via Apple online store they do receive that Apple will no longer supply the old-fashioned iPod Nano, and the new iPod Nano will be put to the shelf at the end of September.

Back-To-School Strategy from Microsoft: Buy A PC, Get An Xbox

In an effort to keep the kids from going with all Apple everything, Microsoft has teamed up with a number of vendors to offer a new "Buy a PC, Get An Xbox" plan along with a $15 upgrade to Windows 8 when it lands later this year. Non-gamers get a $100 Staples gift card, which sounds like cold comfort.

Student buyers who spend $699 on a PC will get the Xbox and the upgrade if they supply a student ID. Given that many PC shoppers are holding off until Windows 8 is official, this seems like a good move. Grabbing an Xbox and an inexpensive upgrade ensures that the laptops now mouldering in inventory are sold while Microsoft gains another revenue stream thanks to game purchases and Xbox Live subscriptions. Buyers, in turn, get some state of the art hardware that's Win8 ready when it's time to move over.

Given that folks may find Windows 8 a cognitive burden and that first-gen versions of Windows OSes usually end up pretty rough, it's probably a good move to stick with Win7 for at least a few more months after launch to see how the UX and bugs shakes out. However it seems like a great opportunity for an early adopting student to pick up a nice laptop at a fairly nice price and waste a bit of time on Skyrim between, during, and after class.

Back To School: 5 Apps You Must Have to Make the Best of Your Phone

We all know that apps are the life blood of a smartphone (besides electricity). Without certain apps inside your phone, it can be called dead to some extent. For a student, especially those college students, phone is one thing that they can't live without. Got a smartphone now? Then look at what I have prepared for you below.

Sparrow
As is the case as you get older, email (and life) only become more difficult. If you’re an incoming college freshman, you probably just got your new .edu email address, which you’ll now add to the list of email addresses you already had like Gmail, Facebook, iCloud, etc.
You need something better than iOS’s default Mail application, and chances are you need something better than Android’s too. That’s where Sparrow comes in. It’s Mail on steroids. It brings all your messages into a unified inbox, lets you swipe to reply, star, forward, delete, etc., and even brings in cute little profile pictures next to conversations (if you use Facebook Connect).
The only caveat is that it doesn’t offer push notifications on iOS, but Sparrow was just recently purchased by Google to improve Gmail so I’d expect the $2.99 app to only get better as time goes on.

Astrid Task/To-Do List
As much fun as the phone can be, it’s also an incredible tool for productivity and efficiency. Apps are what help you make the most of your time and energy, and perhaps the best service to help you stay organized, prioritized, and ready to ace your life is Astrid Task.
The app lets you create tasks, complete with due dates, priority levels, and an add to calendar button. Each task can also be filtered into various lists, including the default Home, Work, Personal, and Shopping.
Even better, you can include other people in on your tasks in case you’re working on a group project for school, have a shared grocery list with your roommate, etc. You can also create reusable checklists for things you do every week or every month, and keep from re-creating them over and over. The app is free, easy, and pretty.

Grindr/Blendr
College is all about trying new things. Sometimes that means using recreational drugs, and sometimes that means going goth for a month. Frequently, that means hooking up with the same sex. But how does a young, bi-curious new college student find the right “lab” partner for this type of experiment?
Well, if you’re a man, Grindr, and if you’re a brave lady, Blendr. As it stands now, Grindr is for men only while Blendr is for peeps of all genders and orientations. That means that girls seeking girls on Blendr are almost guaranteed to get hit on by men, so if you can shake that off than by all means, install and get your gay on.
The app/s work by pulling in everyone nearby, displaying who is online with a green dot by their profile picture. When you click on someone you can see their distance, a little bio information, and start a chat. With 4 million users globally on Grindr alone, you’re sure to find someone interesting. Plus, it’s free.
(College kids only — you must be 18 to download the app.)

TheWhoot
Making friends, and even making time to hang out with them, can get difficult in college. On top of classes, you’ll likely involve yourself in other extra-curriculars like clubs, Greek life, sports, etc. Past that, we’ve become a progressively flaky generation, constantly cancelling at the last minute.
TheWhoot helps with these issues quite a bit. It lets you see what your friends are up to tonight as opposed to Facebook Events scheduled for the future (who knows how you’ll feel when the big night rolls around?). You start by giving an idea of what you’ll be up to tonight, within the bounds of four categories: Working, Staying In, Relaxing Out (as in hanging at a bar or something), or Partying.
You can choose to add context, like the location, name of the event, etc., or simply leave it as a category your general mood for the evening. After that, you’re given access to all your friends’ plans for the evening, and you can filter through categories to see whose mood matches yours.
For the new kid at school, this should keep your free nights busy and your busy nights busier, all for free.

Songza
Music is a part of every college kid’s life. And knowing the coolest, hottest music before it’s played over and over on the radio as the coolest, hottest music definitely wins cool points. There is, therefore, no better app than Songza. You can know everything or nothing about music and I guarantee you’ll love the app.
When you first open up Songza, Concierge (the app’s core feature) serves up various activities you might be doing based on the time, day, what type of device you’re on, and your music preferences. This could be Working Out or Studying on a weekday morning, or Getting High or Getting Naked late at night on a weekend. Once you choose an activity, you choose a filter for that activity, like Hype Rap, Heartfelt, Feel-Good Oldies, etc.
After those two clicks, you have a list of highly curated playlists (assembled by music experts — Rolling Stone authors, DJs, etc.) at your disposal. Click, listen, enjoy. Of course, Songza also lets you get to playlists by choosing an activity, mood or genre.

HTC One X Runs on Android ICS 4.04 and with Jelly Bean Promised

HTC has started rolling out an update to HTC One X handsets that brings Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.04 as well as a tweaked version of the Sense interface to the phone.

A spokesman for HTC confirmed the rollout would begin on Friday in the UK, but that timings for other regions would vary.

"The primary update will include an upgrade to Android version 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), in addition to an improved Sense experience which will enable the ability to map menu functions to the 'recent app' key — improving visual presentation in non-ICS apps like Facebook — and improve tab management in the browser with a dedicated tab-switching button," HTC said in a statement.

Other improvements include refined white balance and a continuous auto-focus mode for the camera as well as a single sign-on for Facebook across websites and apps. The company also said it brought improvements to the Beats Audio software, but did not provide details of the upgrades.

While the update might not be the Jelly Bean upgrade that owners were hoping for, a spokeswoman for HTC confirmed that the Jelly Bean 4.1 update is still planned for the device.

"At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean," HTC said. "While our goal is to bring the latest software updates to as many of our recent devices as possible, we are committed to maintaining every phone's performance and usability first."

Android 4.1 OS Based HTC One XL Upgraded Version Exposed

Previously, a mobile phone named HTC Evitare_UL PM63100 has been exposed and be talked about a lot, for the reason that the Glbenchmark testing software implied it would adopt NVIDIA Tegra 3+ quad-core processor and support LTE network. And now the latest NenaMark2 test shows that this mobile phone will run on Android 4.1.1 operating system. It is expected to release as the upgraded version of HTC One XL in the near future.

Running on Android 4.1.1 OS

In a new report, HTC provides the most upgrades on system among cell phone manufacturers, and the good habit is also given to new phone models. As an upgraded version of HTC One XL, the latest NenaMark2 test information leaked shows HTC PM63100 will run on Android 4.1.1 OS, which is with a hint that users will gain more fluid user experience.

In addition, the improvements on new upgraded version bring about fluid UI, interface icon automatic arrangement, speech keyboard, multi languages support, braille language input, picture shooting ability improvement, and enhancement to notice center etc.. At the same time, improvements on Google Now intelligent search and Play Store will definitely bring great user experience.

NVIDIA Tegra 3+ Quad-core Processor

NVIDIA Tegra 3+ quad-core processor is employed by this phone. The main characteristics are: improving the main frequency to 1.7GHz, integrating LTE chip and working in LTE network. Therefore, the phone with NVIDIA Tegra 3+ quad-core processor is also regarded as the upgraded version of HTC One XL.

Although we have no further information about this new handset, as the upgraded version of HTC One XL, it is for sure that its main configuration will continue the previous standards, for instance, 4.7-inch 720p (720 x 1280 pixels) touch screen, 1GB RAM and 16GB memory space.

AT&T Customization

It supports LTE network, so in order to realize video calling function, this phone will adopt double-camera design, 1.3-million-pixel front-facing camera and 8-million-pixel main camera, BSI sensor and support the latest HTC ImageChip image processing chip, 0.2-second focus speed, 0.7-second camera startup, static image taking during video shooting.

It is reported that this phone will be launched by American operator AT&T, but specific release date is still not clear.

Back-to-School Preparation: Top-Pick Best Smartphones for Students

The new school year is drawing closer, so it's time to start thinking about what school supplies students are going to need. Back in the day, all Little Johnny or Janie needed was a pencil and some paper, but times have changed. Now a smartphone is likely to be on the list, especially for college students.

Students generally need a powerful phone, as it will be their major way of communicating with friends and family, whether it's by text, IM, or social networking. Plus, a smartphone can be an invaluable tool for keeping up with a hectic schedule, or blowing off steam with a game or two. And they might even use it to call someone at some point.

1. Samsung Galaxy S III

The Samsung Galaxy S III comes close to being a laptop that you can fit in your pocket. Despite its sleek design, it offers a generous 4.8-inch high-res display. Thanks to Android 4.0 and a powerful 1.5 GHz, dual-core processor, 4G connectivity, an 8MP camera, and S Voice commands (Samsung's answer to Siri) it is one powerhouse of a phone.

The Galaxy S III is offered by every major wireless carrier in the United States, making it the most broadly available smartphone in this country. And a version with a quad-core processor is widely available in other countries around the world.

You might also want to know how to watch YouTube on Samsung Galaxy S III, go ahead!

2. Apple iPhone 4S

The flagship phone from Apple has sold by the million, to the point where it and its predecessors have become cultural icons. This device has a 3.5-inch Retina touchscreen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5MP camera, and 3G,but Apple's smartphones have never been about cutting-edge specs. Instead, they emphasize ease of use, simplicity, and an almost astounding number of apps.

While the iPhone 4S is still popular more than 9 months after its launch, a replacment is expected in early fall -- those who can afford to wait might want to do so.

This model can be fround at AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.

Have the need to convert video to iPhone 4S? right here!

3. HTC One X (U.S. Version)

HTC released the One X, its new flagship Android smartphone, earlier this year to rave reviews thanks to its excellent camera, beautiful 4.7-inch display, and a powerful 1.5 GHz, dual-core processor running the show. Other features include Beats Audio, HTC's Sense 4 overlay, and 4G LTE connectivity, though it is worth noting that, like the Galaxy S III, the international version of the phone does not have LTE, instead swapping out that feature for a more powerful quad-core processor.

While our reviewer gave it a slightly higher score than the Galaxy S III, the Samsung model comes out slightly ahead because it is much more widely available -- at this point the One X is only offered by AT&T.

4. Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX

The Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX was released a matter of months after the initial release of the Droid RAZR, coming on the heels of complaints regarding the original model's battery life. Motorola more than adequately addressed the problem, releasing a phone that is marginally thicker than its predecessor, but also packing a 3300 mAh battery that provides many more hours of battery life. Combined with high-end specs like a Super AMOLED display and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, the Droid RAZR MAXX took a good phone and made it great.

This device is a Verizon exclusive.

5. Samsung Galaxy Note

The Samsung Galaxy Note is something of a polarizing device in that some people may take issue with its size, while others may laud its roomy, 5.3 inch Super AMOLED display that allows for the usage of Samsung's S Pen stylus. The device spawned the term "phablet," as it's big enough to be considered a smartphone/tablet hybrid, but the it also has more going for it than its massive size. 4G LTE connectivity and a powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core processor are some of the Galaxy Note's "noteworthy" features, so if size isn't an issue for you, this is definitely worth a look.

It is offered by AT&T now, and will coming to T-Mobile soon.

6. HTC One S

A more affordable version of the HTC One X, the One S is more modestly specced, with a slightly slower dual-core processor? and a smaller, lower resolution (4.3-inch, 540 x 960) display. Nevertheless, the processor of the One S, a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon with two Krait cores running at 1.5 GHz, performs admirably, to the point where it's almost indistinguishable from that of the One X. Also appealing is its sexy, slim build, measuring only 7.8 mm thick, making the One S a cheaper yet almost equally attractive offer as its big brother.

Currently, this handset is available only from T-Mobile.
