Download KONY 2012—A Film and Campaign by Invisible Children and A Lesson in Critical Thinking

























Kony 2012 is a film created by Invisible Children, Inc. which became a viral video. The film's purpose is to promote the charity's 'Stop Kony' movement to make indicted Ugandan war criminal Joseph Kony internationally known in order to arrest him in 2012.

This 28-minute story is about the plight of children in Africa has been watched more than 21m times on YouTube. But the charity behind it is facing criticism for its Hollywood-style campaigning on the issue. Are the criticisms fair?

Kony 2012, has been viewed 41 million times on YouTube, most of them on Thursday. An addtional 445,000 people have "liked" it on Facebook. And on Twitter, celebrities such as Justin Beiber, Will Smith and J.K. Rowling have pushed the trend by sending out tweets. One tweet by P. Diddy was retweeted more than 57,000 times.The video has gone viral, and even White Housespokesman Jay Carney referenced it Thursday in his daily briefing.
