 About The Emmy Awards
The Emmys have been known as the Oscars of the television industry ever since the first awards were given out by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 1949. In the 1950's, the name "Emmy" was a feminization of "immy", the nickname for image orthicon tubes used in early television cameras. Today, the annual broadcast is watched by more than 600 million viewers around the world.

The 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Highlight
First-time winners included Melissa McCarthy of the CBS comedy series "Mike & Molly, as well as Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell of the ABC sitcom "Modern Family". Jim Parsons won his second Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for his role as Sheldon Cooper on the CBS show "The Big Bang Theory". The Modern Family Won 5 Emmys so as to be remarked as the lion's share in the 63rd Emmy Awards 2011.
