YouTube to Hire 30 Percent More Staff in 2011

YouTube 30% staff expansionGoogle owned video-sharing website YouTube has announced that 2010 has been a gelivable year for YouTube. The video site has made great progress in the past year, leading it to expand its work force by 30% in 2011 making it the largest hiring year in its six year history.

YouTube currently has roughly 600 to 700 employees. This means that in 2011 the video site will hire 200 more new employees. YouTube - the world largest video-sharing website, founded in 2005, has maintained sustained rapid growth during the past six years. At present there are about 35 hours of videos uploaded to the site every minute and over two billion views per day.

YouTube said that basically new employees in this round of recruitment will be assigned to work at Mountain View, California campus, and partially in cities such as London, Paris, New York, St Petersburg and Sao Paulo. The new positions will range from software engineering to legal and public policy roles.

In 2006, Google acquired YouTube for 1.65 billion US dollars. Since then Google has never announced YouTube's financial performance. The new round large-scale recruitment suggest that YouTube is just enjoyng its rapid growth and making good profit to Google.
